Special Operations Forces

Special Operations Forces are involved in various types of missions ranging from combat and counterterrorism operations to hostage rescue and humanitarian aid.

Special Operations Forces are the elite commandos of the U.S. military. They are called upon to perform the toughest duties in the armed forces, and their actions directly affect the protection of America's freedom. Are you one of them?

Comprised of 26,000 personnel, USASOC combines a vast range of warfighting skills, from raiding and airfield seizures, to human-terrain mapping and cultural analysts.

Army Special Operations Aviation Command (ARSOAC)

Over the past decade, U.S. Army Special Operations Command aviation experts have recognized a need to separate the combat role of Army Special Operations Aviation from resourcing responsibilities. The Army and Special Operations Command thus received approval to create a one-star Army Special Operations Forces aviation force structure: Army Special Operations Aviation Command (Provisional), or ARSOAC. ARSOAC will be a subordinate command to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.

Army Special Operations Command (USASOC)

The U.S. Army Special Operations Command is the largest of the service components that make up U.S. Special Operations Command and provides about 70% of the special operations personnel in Central Command's theater. On any given day, dozens of USASOC elements are deployed around the world.

Army Rangers: The 75th Ranger Regiment

The 75th Ranger Regiment is a lethal, agile and flexible force, capable of executing myriad complex, joint special operations missions in support of U.S. policies and objectives. Designed and trained to be the most rapidly deployable unit in the Army capable of conducting operations in all types of terrain and weather, using various insertion methods, today's 75th Ranger Regiment is the Army's premier raid force.

Marine Corps Special Forces (MARSOC) Training

The Marine Special Operations School mission is to assess and select personnel for assignment for Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC). The school also trains and educates designated personnel in individual, basic and advanced special operations in order to meet MARSOC's requirement to provide capable personnel to conduct special operations.
